creatorDM prerequisites (Instagram)

Before connecting Instagram you need a Creator or Business account, a linked Facebook Page, and Connected tools → Allow access to messages turned on.

Short answer: creatorDM needs an Instagram Creator or Business account linked to a Facebook Page you admin, plus Instagram Settings → Messages and story replies → Message controls → Connected tools → Allow access to messages ON. Personal accounts cannot use Meta messaging APIs.

Meta’s Instagram messaging APIs only work on professional accounts. Complete these three checks before you click Connect Instagram.

1. Creator or Business account

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Go to Settings and privacy → Account type and tools.
  3. Switch to Professional account and choose Creator or Business.

Either type works with creatorDM.

2. Linked Facebook Page

  1. Open your profile → Edit profile.
  2. Under Public business information, tap Page.
  3. Connect an existing Page you fully admin, or create one.

3. Allow connected tools to access messages

Without this toggle, automations connect but DMs never leave Instagram.

  1. Instagram app → Settings and privacy → Messages and story replies.
  2. Tap Message controls.
  3. Under Connected tools, turn Allow access to messages ON.

Then connect

Return to app.creatordm.com → Home → Connect Instagram. When Meta shows the permission sheet, tap Edit settings and check every Page and Instagram account you want to use.

If the account still does not appear, follow Add a missing Instagram account.

Can I use a personal Instagram account with creatorDM?

No. Meta’s messaging APIs only work with Creator or Business (professional) accounts linked to a Facebook Page.

Why do I need a Facebook Page?

Instagram professional messaging and comment webhooks require the Instagram account to be attached to a Facebook Page.
